Short summary of April Blackcountry Woodturners meeting 20/4/05

At the club meeting tonight, we were entertained by the young, but not inexperienced woodturner Chris Barker.

Chris is a regular turner at Craft Supplies. An enthusiastic & energetic woodturner, he delighted us with turning 2 items :

 1st A Masur birch vase  ( view wood at www.masurbirch.com/resource/gallery.html   )

 2nd A Mallee burr  (view wood at www.hobbithouseinc.com/personal/woodpics/indextotal.htm   )

Both items screw chucked & reversed & held on the scroll chuck.

Both items sanded, note rolled sandpaper to avoid removing fingers on the natural edged timber, & melamine lacquered.

Chris addressing the members defining the base

rolled sandpaper saves fingers on a natural edge vessel! Displaying finished item-Red eye result of too much Laquer!!

A very enjoyable evening. May we wish him well for the future.
